Introducing IMiA21 Virtual

Introducing IMiA21 Virtual

The Organising Committee for the International Medicine in Addiction (IMiA) Conference appreciates how highly valued the biennial IMiA event is, for the practical and engaging content it delivers and the networking opportunities it provides. We also pride ourselves on putting the safety of our delegates first.

In 2021, IMiA’s practical and engaging content will be delivered online for the first time, as IMiA21 Virtual. This mode of delivery will provide our delegates with safety and certainty. It also removes barriers for attendees living in regional or rural areas, or overseas, who may not have been able to attend in previous years.

IMiA21 will start on the afternoon of Friday 26 February and run through to lunchtime on Sunday 28 February 2021. By  embracing the latest in digital technology and drawing on lessons learned from event delivery throughout 2020, our community can continue the tradition of innovating, challenging and educating each other. The Organising Committee is committed to delivering a stellar scientific program and virtual experience and looks forward to announcing our keynote speakers and associated details very soon.

Thank you for your ongoing support and we look forward to your participation at IMiA21 Virtual.

Program Overview

This year’s theme of ‘Connecting the Disconnected’ acknowledges that substance use can form part of a complex set of issues, including disconnection and marginalisation. These issues call upon us, as doctors, to connect with each other, to connect with our patients, and to connect our patients to the services and treatments that will best work for them.

By moving to a virtual platform, we hope to welcome doctors from around the world, not just Australia and New Zealand.  As such, we are expecting IMiA21 Virtual is going to be even bigger and even better than before.

Calling All Registrars

IMiA21 Virtual has an exciting twist for abstract submissions this year. For the first time, we are accepting Case Study abstract submissions. Delegates have an opportunity to submit a case study and have it discussed by a panel of industry experts!

We are also pleased to announce the launch of the Poster Idol Competition to celebrate and showcase our extremely talented Registrars. Selected finalists will have the opportunity to give a short presentation of their poster during the Conference, after which the delegates will vote for their ‘Best Poster Presentation’.

So gather your thoughts, prepare your research and make the most of your chance to present at IMiA21 Virtual.

Supporters & Exhibitors

Traditionally, IMiA Conferences attracts around 600 conference delegates. By moving to a virtual platform, we are now able to welcome more doctors from around the world, expanding our Australian and New Zealand base.

Embracing digital technology means we can continue to deliver innovative scientific programming for delegates with plenty of engagement opportunities for Supporters. We are committed to providing networking opportunities and return on investment for all Supporters and Exhibitors.

The RANZCP, RACGP and RACP communicate to over 38,000, 6,000 and 25,000 members respectively, on a regular basis through a range of channels – IMiA21 Virtual will be promoted through all of these channels and we are confident of an even higher level of audience participation and engagement.
