IMiA21 is going virtual!
The Covid 19 pandemic is generally being well controlled in Australia, however the 2021 iMIA scientific committee has become increasingly concerned that overseas invited speakers and delegates would not able to join us and that some people might not want or be able to travel within Australia. There is a high possibility that a face to face conference might be forced to postpone or cancel. We know how much everyone values the biannual iMIA conference. As a result we took the decision last week that this conference is too important to all of us not to proceed and as result we are going online. We know that we can put together another fascinating, practical and engaging conference for everyone while keeping us all safe.
So the message is; we’re not cancelling or postponing, while we can’t meet face to face, the 5th iMIA conference is going virtual and will proceed in late February 2021 using digital technology to Continue the tradition of creating an engaging, challenging and educational line up.
On behalf of the IMiA21 Organising and Program Committee we wish to advise that we are working full time on preparations for IMiA21 in Sydney and our plans for the upcoming Conference remain in place.
The Conference Organising and Program Committee is carefully monitoring travel and public health policies relating to the current COVID-19 outbreak. We are aware that this is a rapidly evolving situation. Given the present situation and the information we have to date, IMiA21 will be proceeding in Sydney in February 2021. Any changes to this decision will be communicated directly with all stakeholders.
Ensuring the safety of delegates, speakers, industry sponsors, organisational staff and all stakeholders in IMiA21 is of utmost importance to us.
We will be providing frequent updates as we navigate the issues and challenges with this current situation.
